No Pleasure in Death
For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. Ezekiel 18:32
Some may think God takes pleasure in our death. He does not. He does not take pleasure in our death. But it happens. We die. Thanks Adam. Thanks Eve. Well, I could blame them, but who is to say I wouldn’t have fallen for the same thing back then. I have done my share of falling over the years. In fact, before Christ, I planned my life around sin.
So why didn’t God just zap me out of here? I can’t answer that one, other than His mercy and grace preserved me. And it’s the same mercy and grace that preserves you.

When Serving God Seems Futile
Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts? And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered. Malachi 3:14-15
A few days ago, I talked with a friend who loves the Lord, but feels he can no longer give his time to ministry. He told me he has had it. He has become disillusioned by what he’s seen in the church. Fact is, we cannot know righteousness, if we do not know the truth. And we cannot know righteousness if we do not have Christ and seek after Him. If we remain content in this world, to live as we have always lived, then we will never gain Christ and know His righteousness. Continue reading
Beyond Despair
It isn’t often we get to read about Paul in despair. I believe our minds picture Paul as someone who took the beatings, stonings and the lash without flinching or worry. Sometimes, we forget he was human just like you and me.
Paul writes, in 2 Corinthians, about something so awful it caused him to believe his ministry would end. He and those with him felt in their hearts the sentence of death hanging over them. Continue reading
