Grace Abounding - Excerpts from John Bunyan’s Work

I found this testimony from John Bunyan. It reminds us how great a God we have and how wonderful His grace and mercy is.

God Bless…

Excerpts from Grace Abounding:
18. …another thought came into my mind; and that was, whether we
were of the Israelites, or no? For finding in the Scriptures that
they were once the peculiar people of God, thought I, if I were
one of this race, my soul must needs be happy. .. At last I asked
my father of it; who told me–No, we were not. Wherefore then I fell
in my spirit as to the hopes of that, and so remained…

A Mirror Never Lies

Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.  1 Timothy 1:13, 15

What I like about Paul is this, he never forgot about his past. By this, I mean he never lost sight of God’s mercy and how God saved a wretched man like him. I believe his past drove him to greatness, not out of a desire to be great, but a desire to humbly serve the Lord from a heart of gratitude. Why, he knew waht it cost to give him a fresh start, to give him mercy.

Ever look in a… Continue reading

Love Your Enemies

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Matthew 5:43-44

In today’s world, where getting even is the norm of the day, I cannot imagine how these two verses would change the world if people applied them on a regular basis.

First, love your neighbor, then love your enemy and pray for your enemy. Let’s see a show of hands, how many of you reading this pray for your enemies? Oh, I pray all right, but I’m not sure he meant the prayers I pray for them. Just being honest.

A while back… Continue reading

Doctrine of Repentance

Here are some additional articles I found on the Internet that have to do with the Doctrine of Repentance. We certainly need to repent, from personal to corporate repentance, as a nation.

God Bless…

We are living in a day and age where man is taught to think good thoughts, high thoughts, wonderful thoughts about himself. Within the last 20 years or so there has been a covert invasion in Christianity in America without hardly a whimper of protest. This invasion can best be described as “Christian” psychology, which is nothing more than watered-down humanism. While there are millions of people searching for answers to their complicated problems created by their increasingly complex lives, psychology comes along and attempts to answer and solve man’s… Continue reading

A Prayer of Repentance

I had this emailed to me recently. It reminds us about how much of the world has crept in to our hearts and in to society. It’s a prayer of repentance…It will open your eyes. Please feel free to pass this on to your friends. We need revival. We need to repent.

God Bless

Pastor (Joe Wright) with GUTS!

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people.. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We… Continue reading

Assurance Part III, Tests from 1 John

Assurance III

From Assurance part III - Paul Washer Sermon

I. 2 Corinthians 13:5

1 John 5:13

Those who profess know it is true, through the things John wrote.

Many will say they have salvation and assurance, but it’s not real.

The Gospel tells us we will know them by their fruits.

Do you know the Lord and does your life demonstrate it?

If we live a style of life that contradicts God’s Word and will, we are not Christian.

Christians are sensitive to sin in their own life, comes to confession and repentance.

Truly converted the sin you once love, you will now hate. You can be enticed back, but if it happens, you know you have sinned.

II. 1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of… Continue reading

Assurance Part II - Tests from 1 John

Assurance II

Outline of Assurance II from Paul Washer. Also, I have added some additional information for you to ponder.

I. Love, mercy, forgiveness, unity and joy are some of the attributes of those who have Christ.

II. Sensitivity to Sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8

Does sin cause your heart to break? Does it make you feel ashamed? Does it cause you to repent? Or do you sin and think nothing about it? If you habitually refuse to acknowledge your sin before God? If you have someone come to tell you, you have sinned, do you get… Continue reading

How Do You Know You Believe - Examine Yourself

Examine Yourself

Notes from Paul Washer’s Sermon “Examine Yourself”

Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you–unless, of course, you fail the test? 2 Cor. 13:5

No doubt, we all know the need for yearly physical exams. A physical exam lets us know if there is something wrong in our bodies.

Well, even more important is to make sure we have salvation. Thus, Paul asks us to examine ourselves. We are to see if we are of the faith.

Paul writes, Jesus Christ is in us, unless we fail the test. How do we know if we have salvation? Can a preacher proclaim us saved. Do words save us? Does a little prayer save us?… Continue reading
