The Yo - Yo Salvation Part I

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. John 14:20

Have you ever thought about your salvation and how miraculous it is?  I come from the point that true salvation is a secure salvation. Yet,I know there are some of you reading this who believe you can lose your salvation and that is fine with me. I am not writing to persuade you away from what you believe, as long as we agree Christ is the only way to heaven.  One my favorite teachers, one I trust explicitly, believes in loss of salvation. It doesn’t bother me, because we both believe in the One who loves us and saved us from the wrath to come and forgave our sins.

Tough Words from Our Savior - Never Compromise our Faith

But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins.” John 8:23-24

When you read these words, they don’t sound like they come from someone who was gentle and kind all the time. In other words, Jesus would not have worried about today’s political correctness, where we cannot offend those who hate Christians, but Christians are fair game all the time.

Can you imagine Jesus standing before our political or religious leaders and saying what he said to those men. In less polite terms, He told them they were… Continue reading

Love Your Enemies

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Matthew 5:43-44

In today’s world, where getting even is the norm of the day, I cannot imagine how these two verses would change the world if people applied them on a regular basis.

First, love your neighbor, then love your enemy and pray for your enemy. Let’s see a show of hands, how many of you reading this pray for your enemies? Oh, I pray all right, but I’m not sure he meant the prayers I pray for them. Just being honest.

A while back… Continue reading

The Old Cross and the New Cross - A. W. Tozer

There is an old cross and a new cross. The old cross demands death, the new cross is the happy cross that demands nothing. When you read this, it sound as if Tozer wrote this today. Yet, we must remember he went home to be with the Lord in 1963. Tozer is timeless. He could see changes, even when most could not. And what he wrote then, is a warning to us today. This article on the Cross is about the power of the Cross and how it works in our lives.

The Old Cross and the New Cross

Unannounced and mostly undetected there has come in modern times a new cross into popular evangelical circles. It is like the old cross, but different: the likenesses are superficial; the… Continue reading

God’s Laws Verses Mans Laws

Do and do, do an do, rule on rule, rule on rule; a little here, a little there. Is 28:10 NIV

People who have inner-guidance, such as their conscience or in our case, the Holy Spirit, do not need a bunch of rules to keep them in line. Why, because they control their behavior from the inside.

Unfortunately, those in Isaiah’s time, saw God’s laws as burdensome. Is it any different today. Mostly, people reject the Lord, not for what He did, but for what they will no longer be able to do. The lost want their freedom to have sex. That’s what it boils down to in most cases. They want their freedom to get drunk and to do whatever else they want to do, without rules. If they want to… Continue reading

He Will Be With You Forever

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever…John 14:15

Some believe the Holy Spirit will leave them if they do something wrong. Or they lose their faith for a season. Well, Jesus did not teach this. He said the Holy Spirit will be with us forever.

The Holy Spirit, the Comforter, the Spirit that comes from God is in us forever. His Spirit gives us power to overcome and to fend off Satan and His demons.

His Spirit teaches us, guides into all truth and convicts our hearts when we sin and need to repent. His Spirit is also a down payment on our eternity.

Those without the Spirit cannot enter heaven. Why? They never experienced a rebirth. You see, before… Continue reading

Just Because it Seems Fashionable

You have wearied the LORD with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them” or “Where is the God of justice?” Malachi 2:17

Over the next few months we will see changes take place all around us. Changes we never imagined in this country  or nation. For those of us who grew up with moral teaching, these things will seem very wicked to us. However, a new generation will not see them this way. For them, anything goes. Thus,  what we see as wicked, they may see as normal and natural.

It’s what happens to nations when they… Continue reading
