Ten Indictments Against the Church, Paul Washer
Audio Message: Ten Indictments Against the Chruch.
My thoughts and Outline to Paul Washer’s Message
My Thoughts
I know some of you may be saying, “another Paul Washer?” Yes, I do like the messenger and the message, because Paul continues to remind me that we are to remain holy and righteous. I know, I have fallen so short of this in my life. And yet, I strive for it. And I know you do to. We have to remember, we are not alone. We are not Islands. People watch us daily. How we live, act and react catches their eyes. I remember saying something close to a four letter word once at work and it shocked some folks, including me. I had to seek forgiveness. I remember doing an… Continue reading
The Remedy for What Ails US
“If ye walk in my statutes, and keep my commandments, and do them; Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.” Leviticus 26:3
There are those who believe we control the weather or the environment. There are those who would convince us if we spent every penny we have, we will be able to save the planet.
First of all, the planet is not going anywhere. It will remain until the Lord returns, when we will have a new heaven and and a new earth. Until then, we will not, in any way, destroy the planet.
However, there is one who can cause us great… Continue reading
Assurance Part III, Tests from 1 John
From Assurance part III - Paul Washer Sermon
I. 2 Corinthians 13:5
1 John 5:13
Those who profess know it is true, through the things John wrote.
Many will say they have salvation and assurance, but it’s not real.
The Gospel tells us we will know them by their fruits.
Do you know the Lord and does your life demonstrate it?
If we live a style of life that contradicts God’s Word and will, we are not Christian.
Christians are sensitive to sin in their own life, comes to confession and repentance.
Truly converted the sin you once love, you will now hate. You can be enticed back, but if it happens, you know you have sinned.
II. 1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of… Continue reading
Assurance Part II - Tests from 1 John
Outline of Assurance II from Paul Washer. Also, I have added some additional information for you to ponder.
I. Love, mercy, forgiveness, unity and joy are some of the attributes of those who have Christ.
II. Sensitivity to Sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8
Does sin cause your heart to break? Does it make you feel ashamed? Does it cause you to repent? Or do you sin and think nothing about it? If you habitually refuse to acknowledge your sin before God? If you have someone come to tell you, you have sinned, do you get… Continue reading
Assurance Part I - Tests from 1 John
Outline from Paul Washer’s Message
I. Know the truth - examine yourself and have the assurance you need through Biblical proof.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13
II. God is light - Know this - We are surrounded by a sea of wickedness. And we are affected by this darkness. Yet, in the midst is God’s light. Are you walking in the light?
What does light mean. (Moral purity, perfection, God is Holy, God is righteous)
In order to go to heaven, we must be like God, perfect and Holy. But we cannot have these in and of ourselves. Only through… Continue reading
How Do You Know You Believe - Examine Yourself
Notes from Paul Washer’s Sermon “Examine Yourself”
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you–unless, of course, you fail the test? 2 Cor. 13:5
No doubt, we all know the need for yearly physical exams. A physical exam lets us know if there is something wrong in our bodies.
Well, even more important is to make sure we have salvation. Thus, Paul asks us to examine ourselves. We are to see if we are of the faith.
Paul writes, Jesus Christ is in us, unless we fail the test. How do we know if we have salvation? Can a preacher proclaim us saved. Do words save us? Does a little prayer save us?… Continue reading
When Peace is Not There, by Lynn Sheldon
And God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them; you shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.” Numbers 22:9
Have you ever had a time when you were wanting to do something, but you had no peace in your heart about doing it? Everything seemed right. It looked good. It might further your career, or increase your portfolio. Nothing about the deal seemed bad, except you had no peace about it. What did you do?
I have been there. And unfortunately, there were times in my life when I had no peace about some of the decisions I had to make. Still, I went along with them, thinking it was just me. Of course, those times I went along with them… Continue reading
His Eyes are on the Truth, By L. Sheldon
Hurricanes, tornadoes, floods in diverse places, millions left without their possessions or the lives they once lived. Financial earthquakes on Wall Street, diseases, crop loss and debt. Can we not see the signs? Add these to the lies we have to endure from our leaders. Then, we ask ourselves, what happened to our statesmen? Where are our heroes? Continue reading
