Love Your Enemies

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Matthew 5:43-44

In today’s world, where getting even is the norm of the day, I cannot imagine how these two verses would change the world if people applied them on a regular basis.

First, love your neighbor, then love your enemy and pray for your enemy. Let’s see a show of hands, how many of you reading this pray for your enemies? Oh, I pray all right, but I’m not sure he meant the prayers I pray for them. Just being honest.

A while back… Continue reading

The Old Cross and the New Cross - A. W. Tozer

There is an old cross and a new cross. The old cross demands death, the new cross is the happy cross that demands nothing. When you read this, it sound as if Tozer wrote this today. Yet, we must remember he went home to be with the Lord in 1963. Tozer is timeless. He could see changes, even when most could not. And what he wrote then, is a warning to us today. This article on the Cross is about the power of the Cross and how it works in our lives.

The Old Cross and the New Cross

Unannounced and mostly undetected there has come in modern times a new cross into popular evangelical circles. It is like the old cross, but different: the likenesses are superficial; the… Continue reading

Tim Conway - On Repentance

Repentance is abandonment. We cannot force repentance. We cannot act repentant. It is true repentance, where our eyes end up on Christ.

We must repent and turn from our sins.

You have wearied the LORD with your words. “How have we wearied him?” you ask. By saying, “All who do evil are good in the eyes of the LORD, and he is pleased with them” or “Where is the God of justice?” Malachi 2:17

Over the next few months we will see changes take place all around us. Changes we never imagined in this country  or nation. For those of us who grew up with moral teaching, these things will seem very wicked to us. However, a new generation will not see them this way. For them, anything goes. Thus,  what we see as wicked, they may see as normal and natural.

It’s what happens to nations when they… Continue reading

Contain the Truth - Depends on What Side You are on

Satan has done an excellent job. He knew he could not get the churched to deny God or Jesus. So, what did he do. He persuaded them to believe moral truths are relative. He encouraged them to make their decisions on feelings, rather than facts. Thus, if no one has the truth, but self, then self becomes one’s own god. It is, in fact, a form of idolatry. Passing the Good Person Test, By L. Sheldon

If you ask the typical person if they are going to heaven, they will say they believe they will. Nobody believes they are going to Hell.

Well, if you ask them why they believe they are going to Heaven, they will tell you they are a good person.

When we hear this, how can we say they are not good person and chance offending them and losing an opportunity to witness to them?

One of the best ways comes from the “Way of the Master” training course. You give them the “Good Person” test.

Here is how it goes:

“You say you are a good person. Would you like to see how good you are? Or would you like to see if you can pass the good person test?”

After they agree, you ask them if… Continue reading

Rediscovering The Gospel of Jesus Christ - Video -

If your children were about to do something that would cause them grave danger, would you not warn them about the danger? Would you not want to make it sound so awful that they would turn away from the danger? You would not make it sound pleasurable. You would not tell it in such a way as to make the danger sound a reasonable choice. You would not speak in such a way as to ignore the danger. You would be in your children’s face, doing everything you can to get them to change their minds. Continue reading

Evidence of Salvation - Part IV, L. Sheldon

Today, we have preachers who want to only teach the good stuff. They don’t want to teach about sin. They don’t want to remind us there is a Hell. They don’t want to offend the lost. Folks, if our cross is not offensive or foolish to them, then we are not preaching the Gospel. We are preaching a watered down version, I call a lie. Continue reading
