Famous Tozer Quotes

One of my favorite men of God is A. W. Tozer, who died in 1963. What he saw in the future, regarding our churches and their activities could only have been seen by a true prophet.

Listening to some of his sermons, you would think he was talking about today’s churches. While some of the things he spoke about were not the norm, he knew they would one day become the norm:

For instance, here is a quote about the Modern Day Church from A. W. Tozer. Again, he died in 1963

“Evangelical Christianity is now tragically below the New Testament standard. Worldliness is an accepted part of our way of life. Our religious mood is social instead of spiritual. We have lost the art of worship. We are not producing saints. Our… Continue reading

Then I will take away my hand and you shall see My back: but My face shall not be seen. Exodus 33:23

Recently, I had a short discussion with someone about this verse. This person thought this meant God had a literal face, hand and backside. Now, he did not believe God had a face, hand and back like us, but spiritually, sort of ghost like, is the best way I can describe it.

I mentioned to him that was impossible, because God is Spirit. And Spirit is invisible. But he wasn’t buying it. He said to me you have to take the Bible literally. Well, the whole thing blew up into a big mess.

So, it got me thinking. What is the true… Continue reading

God’s People Will Not Be Ashamed in the Time of Calamity, David Wilkerson

When I began working on this message, the Wall Street Journal reported that the entire world had come under a great cloud of fear. People in all nations are now paralyzed by world events. Immediately, my thoughts turned to our parishioners at Times Square Church. They show no such fear. Instead, while we all have a great soberness about these times, we also have a deep, abiding joy.

Offense of the Gospel

He who knows God hears us, he who is of God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. John 4:6

God’s Word was meant for God’s people. It was not meant for the unbeliever. Those who are not of God, do not hear the Word. They cannot understand it, unless the Spirit quickens them so they can hear and believe.

Without the Spirit of God in a person, what someone hears or reads means nothing. All that persons hears or sees is a bunch of contradictions and foolishness. The Cross is foolishness. Without the Holy Spirit, the Gospel seems offensive to those… Continue reading

Turn Away My Eyes

The Psalmist writes, “Teach me the way of your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end” (Ps. 119:33). Now is the time to learn His ways. Now is the time to rethink your life. Now is the time to prepare for your eternity, by seeking His desire for your life. Now is the time to slow down and give God the time to work in our life and make you the person He wants you to become. Continue reading

When God Comes Down

I am convinced the Lord is trying to break through to his people as never before.

As Scripture predicts, the devil has come down with great wrath, knowing his time is short. And right now God’s people need a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit, a supernatural touch even greater than the one at Pentecost.

Write the Vision Down

Habakkuk, found himself crying out to the Lord. He knew what God was about to do to Judah. He didn’t understand, but He knew God had to do what He was about to do. God had Judah in the Cross hairs of His judgment. He would soon send Babylon to spank Judah for their rebellious heart. Continue reading

Exchanging Glory for Shame

You see, God’s Word says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6). Today, most people are ignorant of God’s Word. They live by feelings, rather than facts. Their lack of knowledge, in the Word, in History and in many other areas have left this nation ignorant of God’s ways and the importance He played in the Founder’s lives and the establishment of this great country. Continue reading
