How to Put on Your Spiritual Armor

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Ephesians 6:14-17

Several years ago, I heard an evangelist talk about how we are to put on the full armor of God. This believer share how, by saying we should get up each day and imagine putting on each piece. I thought, that’s what I’m going to do. So, every morning I got up and began to visualize each piece, as I put on… Continue reading

The Old Cross and the New Cross - A. W. Tozer

There is an old cross and a new cross. The old cross demands death, the new cross is the happy cross that demands nothing. When you read this, it sound as if Tozer wrote this today. Yet, we must remember he went home to be with the Lord in 1963. Tozer is timeless. He could see changes, even when most could not. And what he wrote then, is a warning to us today. This article on the Cross is about the power of the Cross and how it works in our lives.

The Old Cross and the New Cross

Unannounced and mostly undetected there has come in modern times a new cross into popular evangelical circles. It is like the old cross, but different: the likenesses are superficial; the… Continue reading

The Power of the Cross - Ken Silva

I found this article on the “Power of the Cross.”  I found it very compelling and on target.

We now continue our look at what Christ Jesus did on the Cross. In the previous The Power of the Cross here at Apprising Ministries we focused more on what the sacrifice of Jesus of Nazareth meant in regard to salvation and now we begin to look a bit more at the effect the Cross has on the believer.

Little children, make sure no one deceives you; the one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous; the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil…

Sharing in His Sufferings

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; Phil 3:10

Most of us never think about sharing in the Lord’s sufferings. As soon as something happens to us, we want to pray our way out of it. But here is Paul reminding us that knowing Him is what we should desire most. And if we are to know HIm, we must experience both the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings.

It is my belief that we can never know the power unless we understand the suffering. We can never know His power unless we fellowship in His sufferings. Thus, suffering brings us to a place where we must grow and stand firm if… Continue reading

Your Mother was Right

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. 1 Cor. 15:33-34

When I was young, my mother told me I would become the product of those I run with. In other words, “Lynn, don’t run with bad people, they will corrupt you.”  My answer, “Mom, I can handle myself.”

Well, I was careful who I ran with. Most of the men were decent. And I believe it helped me keep my bearings straight, at least until I entered college, where a young man could easily become corrupted.

I say this because our mothers were right. Whether they knew it or not, they were giving us a Biblical principle. In the NIV, the same… Continue reading

Doctrine of Repentance

Here are some additional articles I found on the Internet that have to do with the Doctrine of Repentance. We certainly need to repent, from personal to corporate repentance, as a nation.

God Bless…

We are living in a day and age where man is taught to think good thoughts, high thoughts, wonderful thoughts about himself. Within the last 20 years or so there has been a covert invasion in Christianity in America without hardly a whimper of protest. This invasion can best be described as “Christian” psychology, which is nothing more than watered-down humanism. While there are millions of people searching for answers to their complicated problems created by their increasingly complex lives, psychology comes along and attempts to answer and solve man’s… Continue reading

A Prayer of Repentance

I had this emailed to me recently. It reminds us about how much of the world has crept in to our hearts and in to society. It’s a prayer of repentance…It will open your eyes. Please feel free to pass this on to your friends. We need revival. We need to repent.

God Bless

Pastor (Joe Wright) with GUTS!

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people.. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We… Continue reading

A Believer’s Assurance

I found this article by John MacArthur on assurance. It’s very good. It reminds me about how important it is to have the assurance, examine ourselves and know the Lord is with us, no matter what life brings us.

“It’s a heartache to me as a pastor to realize that so many Christians lack the assurance of their salvation. They lack the confidence that their sins are truly forgiven and that their place in heaven is eternally secured…” Continue the article
