The Yo - Yo Salvation Part I

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. John 14:20

Have you ever thought about your salvation and how miraculous it is?  I come from the point that true salvation is a secure salvation. Yet,I know there are some of you reading this who believe you can lose your salvation and that is fine with me. I am not writing to persuade you away from what you believe, as long as we agree Christ is the only way to heaven.  One my favorite teachers, one I trust explicitly, believes in loss of salvation. It doesn’t bother me, because we both believe in the One who loves us and saved us from the wrath to come and forgave our sins.

Years ago, I wrote the article called “Yo-Yo Salvation.”  I wish I could find it, but it’s gone. So, I will attempt to recreate parts of it to show you why I believe in eternal security. It’s not for everyone and I understand this. Again, it is not my desire to change you. As long as you love the same Lord I love, it will all come out in the wash one day. We will either have Him or we will not. When we step out of this world and move in to the next, we’ll know if the Lord secured our eternity.

Now, I am not saying I doubt what I have. I am saying, there will be no need to argue the point, because we will know what we have. In the end, our security, our salvation and His love are not about us. It’s about Him. After all, I never did a thing to earn eternity with Him and I was certainly not good enough to deserve it. He gave it to me freely out of His love.

So here are my reasons for eternal security. And believe me if you do not feel this way, it’s all right. In fact, you can write me from your point of view and I’ll post it too.

One day, I questioned the Lord in my spirit about our security. Like everyone else, I got hung up on Hebrews Chapter Six. It sure sounded like we could lose our salvation, so I began to pray and this and the Lord opened my eyes about this subject and I would like to share some of this with you.

First, it’s important to understand what takes place in salvation, God looks down on us and offers us His grace and mercy. His grace covers us eternally, His mercy is what we experience when we do not get what we deserve for our sinfulness.

After receiving His grace and mercy through faith, The Word says in Ezekiel 11:19-21 that He removes our old stony heart and gives us a new heart of flesh and He places within us a new Spirit. What does this mean. First, He removes our old rebellious nature that emanated from the heart and He places within us a new heart of flesh. This heart, unlike our stony heart, is trainable. Stone cannot be molded. When broke, it cannot be repaired. On the other hand, a heart of flesh can be broken without having to break it. God can change a fleshly heart it without having to pulverize it. And He can easily transform it.

A new Spirit is His Holy Spirit in us. He gives us a new Spirit and this is how we experience rebirth. Our old human spirit remained blind to the things of God. However, when His Spirit enters our spirit, we become new. We can now understand the things of God. The Bible no longer seems contradictory. It no longer seems confusing and dead. It becomes alive, because it is Spirit. And the truth is Spirit. And our spirit understands truth because of His Spirit in us.

After the Lord places His Spirit in us, God places our Spirit in the Lord, by seating us in the heavenly realm in Christ Jesus,  according to Ephesians 2:6-7. And from there we are placed in the Father, because the Lord is in the Father. So, we are in the Father with Him.

Some key verses for me are as follows:

The above are some of the reasons I believe we have eternal security. In Part II, I will show you what happens to someone, if we could lose our salvation.

God Bless,

Lynn
